Following a long illness Northern Thunder and Oldham coach Mike Greenwood sadly passed away this morning.
Mike, a legend in the netball world, started Oldham Netball Club 25 years go on retiring from the Army. Through the years the juniors have won 40 National Championships and the seniors play in division one of the National Premier League.
Mike was the Head Coach of Northern Thunder first of all for a season in Super Cup, then taking control in 2008, he guided the team from bottom of the table to a second place finish in 2011.
He had success coaching England U17 and 19’s for a time until he decided to dedicate all his energy into his club.
Sadly he lost his wife Pat in 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
We would like to extend our condolences to Mike’s family and friends. Details of the funeral will be released next week.
