Netball Superleague side Northern Thunder have announced trial dates for the new 2012 Fiat Netball Superleague season.
Last season saw the North West Franchise build upon their success finishing second in the Superleague, after an unlucky season suffering three serious injuries to key players, Thunder’s season ended at play-off two and the squad are hungry to prove what they can do and make it all the way to the Grand Final.
Trials are open to all players, a guide to the standard would be someone who has experienced International, Superleague, Premier or County netball. The trials will be held at Wright Robinson Sport College in Manchester

Northern Thunder train and play at Wright Robinson Sport College in Manchester, the facility has undergone an upgrade turning it into a High Performance Centre for Netball. Over £150k has been spent on a new sprung wooden floor, seating and storage. Players will now have access to a fitness centre, swimming pool, and a performance analysis suite to assist with their strength and conditioning programmes.
After a disappointing finish last year Northern Thunder have big ambitions for the 2012 season and are looking to strengthen their squad as last season showed you cannot have enough strength in depth.
Coach Suzy Chapman (Pictured) commented:
“Myself and the Thunder franchise are really excited for the forthcoming season. Based on last year’s ups and downs we have grown stronger and more determined together. As you know we suffered some upsetting injuries last year, but those players have been working really hard on their recovery and are determined to continue their progressions made for this season. Looking ahead to the season we will be working really hard as a squad, which will be starting soon with a new coaching regime and a new outlook to the season.
“It will be exciting to see some new players wanting to play for Northern Thunder this year who will be at the trials, so watch this space. I hope our fans will be ready because we certainly will be.”
