Thunder Down The Jets in the 1st League Fixture of the Season

Thunder had become well accustomed with their opposition over recent weeks as they met Yorkshire Jets in round 1 of the FIAT Netball Superleague for the fourth time in 2012, just 23 days into the New Year.

It was also a night for celebrity spotting as some of Manchester’s favourite footballing sons were in attendance at the Thunderdome with Phil and Gary Neville in attendance to support their sister and Paul Scholes taking the opportunity to catch a game.

Northern Thunder were crowned Cathedral City Fastnet champions following a convincing 35-21 win in the final against local rivals Yorkshire Jets.

The fastnet finals night, hosted at the Surrey Sport Park, began with a surprise as Thunder Head Coach Tracey Neville chose to take the powerplay in the first quarter when they took on Surrey Storm in a clash of the conference winners....

A thrilling weekend of action has whittled the field down to four and we can confirm that Northern Thunder, Yorkshire Jets, Surrey Storm and Celtic Dragons will do battle to be crowned champions at the inaugural Cathedral City Lighter Fast Net Grand Prix.

Some scintillating play was witnessed by sell-out crowds in Manchester and Surrey as the competition captured the imagination of the crowd and produced drama throughout the weekend.
